A master's job is
never done, it lives on through the ages.
The annual Installation of Officers was held on January 14, 1927 on the stated meeting of January 1927. This being Wor. Brother Reyburn's second time through, he dispensed with much of the fanfare that accompanies an installation.
On February 13, 1927 the Lodge opened in the third degree of Masonry for the purpose of laying to rest, Wor. Brother Herbert Guary Johnson, P. M. Secretary of Clovis Lodge. At the next stated meeting Wor. Brother R. R. Landers was installed as Secretary, the third for Clovis Lodge.
In July, Dr. McMurtry was initiated as an entered apprentice Mason in Clovis Lodge, the only reason this is mentioned here is that he had sought admission into the fraternity several times before this and was declared rejected. In a matter of 4 short months Dr. McMurtry was giving his third degree proficiency at the November stated meeting, a feat which was almost unheard of at the time.
In November of 1927, the degree team from "San Joaquin Light and Power" (now known as PG&E) came to Clovis Lodge and put on a degree for their co-worker, Brother Thomson. It was noted in the minutes of what a fine job they did performing the degree. |
